Sailing Towards a Cleaner Future: Ocean Bottles and the Battle Against Plastic Pollution

In recent years, the world has awakened to the sobering reality of plastic pollution choking our oceans. With millions of tons of plastic waste finding its way into marine ecosystems annually, the urgency to find effective solutions has never been greater. Among the innovative strategies emerging in this battle against plastic pollution, ocean bottles have emerged as a beacon of hope.

With every purchase of our co branded Ocean Bottle, we contribute to the removal of 11.4 kilograms of plastic waste from coastal regions, which is equivalent to clearing 1,000 ocean-bound plastic bottles worldwide. Collaborating closely with esteemed plastic collection partners such as Plastic Bank, Plastics for Change, and Repurpose Global, we turn this commitment into tangible action, focusing our efforts where plastic pollution is most severe along coastal areas.

Through their collaboration with rePurpose, they have expanded the global collection efforts to include additional regions such as Ghana and Indonesia. In the past year, they had the opportunity to visit Bekasi, a bustling city situated on the eastern outskirts of Jakarta, Indonesia. Bekasi is not only home to over 2.5 million residents but also hosts the world's largest landfill site.

The plastic collection methodology employed by their partner, rePurpose, is both comprehensive and adaptable. They facilitate the funding for the collection of nearly all types of plastic waste, guaranteeing that each piece finds a purposeful second life. Through their approach, high-value plastics are recycled, lower-value plastics are upcycled, and hard-to-recycle plastics undergo co-processing.

It is only through the establishment of a circular system for these plastics that we can truly make a substantial impact in regions most heavily impacted by plastic pollution.
